30th March marks the National Doctor’s Day, which is a day to recognize and glorify the relationship between doctors and patients. On the National Doctor’s Day, the American Board of Physician Specialties (ABPS) invite patients to join in thanking their physicians as they contribute not only their knowledge and medical skills, but also excellent service, empathy and personal sacrifice.
On the National Doctor’s Day, people should recognize the fact that we experience many of our life changing milestones with doctors; from the birth of a baby, to discovering a fatal illness, to hearing good news about life saving treatments.
According to the President of the American Association of Physician Specialists, P. Russo Jr, “National Doctor’s Day serves as a renewal of the reciprocal respect that develops in every doctor-patient relationship.”
In short, National Doctor’s Day is the perfect day to thank your doctor, who we sometimes forget to acknowledge.
30th March 2011 is the 20th anniversary of National Doctor’s Day in the United States. National Doctor’s Day was first celebrated as an annual event on 30th March, 1933, and was officially declared as the National Doctor’s Day in 1990.
