In John 15:13, the Bible says, " Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends." This week that is exactly what a man did for his wife in Washington State. A husband literally laid down his life in an attempt to rescue his wife.

A man who was only 61 years old tried to resuscitate his wife only 59, after he called 911 to report that she appeared dead-he said she had collapsed first, wasn't breathing, and had no pulse.

While the dispatcher was on the phone talking and asking the man questions and reassuring him help was on the way, the call went silent, said a spokesman with the Clallam County Sheriff's Office.

Only eight minutes later, the fire department arrived. With them was a member of the Lower Elwha Tribal Police. As they walked up to the house they noted it was completely dark and locked-only a TV was on in a back room.

After unsuccessfully trying to open the door, firefighters went to the back door only to find it was also locked. That is when they saw the couple on the floor.

The police and rescuers furiously attempted to revive the couple for 40 minutes, but it was no use-both did not respond.

The scene took place in Joyce, Washington, USA on the Olympic Peninsula on Wednesday, March 23, 2011.

The Clallam County sheriff's office said they found the man slumped over her body which looked like he had been trying to administer CPR on her.

The Peninsula Daily News said the deaths appeared to be from natural causes and any crime had been ruled out. It is suspected the man died from a heart attack.

"This was just a tragic event," the spokesman said.

Leonard Pierce, owner of the Joyce General Store, said they had just moved to Joyce and built a new home.

"It's terrible," he said.

The couple's names are Charles and Geraldine Lorme. Geraldine died the same week as Geraldine Ferarro.

He must have been so deeply in love that she took his last breath away...the thought of her dying must have been brought with a great attempt to revive her so much that his heart couldn't take it--physically or emotionally.

Thank you very much Gino--uh, I had a little help from a friend on the way it was done. I can't take much credit cuz I wrote it in not such a great way and a mentor friend of mine, gave me the suggestion to change it how it is. I mean the person has like oh 40 years pro exp, maybe 50 he is pretty smart!!! =)

Yes, can you imagine the wife about to meet Jesus in heaven and she realizes her husband is next to her holding her hand.

This is the second or third article I have written where a couple of people came along and rated me down. I appreciate your critiques and want to improve my writing. If you are going to rate me down it would be helpful if I knew why, so I could improve. Please comment the reason. Thank you for your consideration, Stephanie Ealy *I am a new writer and can use all the help I can get in a constructive way. The way it is being done feels like a secretive slap across the face.

Oh my word,i am teary eyed. I have always said that is how I would prefer to die when the time comes in the arms of my honey.Oh God,perhaps he had a heart attack at the thought of losing her.

I hope they are both happy and together in the next realm.

Geraldine - coincidence life has so many mysteries.

Steph do not worry about people rating you don't. Some people cannot understand love, some people may hate that you refered to scripture etc. Forget about that. Speak your heart. It is always about intention. If your intention is to enlighten in a positve way, bring some love and laughter it is all good. Misery likes company.

Be bold darling do your thing, you are doing great and are blessed and wonderfully made. Confidence honey child, confidence. This is for your growth to grow and be bold. Many love your work so ignore the few.jealousy loves to rear it's ugly head. Ignore ignore ignore!!

Rated up for sure.

With love always
