March 27, 2011, Seattle, Was.]-----Yet another huge child sex abuse scandal has emerged from the Roman Catholic Church. This time the victims are Native Americans and Alaskans.

In what is being called one of the biggest settlement to be paid out by the RCC, an order of priests have agreed on Friday to pay $166.1 million to Native American and Alaskan victims of sexual abuse.

According to the Associated Press, more than 450 victims from around the Pacific Northwest are included in this settlement with the Oregon Province of the Society of Jesus.

The abuse is said to date as far back as 1960 and 1970, when the Province operated schools and villages on reservations in Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho.

One victim, 51 year old Clarita Vargas who was reportedly abused along with her sister at the tender age of 6 and 7, had this to say about the record breaking settlement, "It is a day of reckoning--my spirit was wounded and this makes it feel better."

The Church is accused of using the remote villages and schools on Reservations to dump pedophile priests instead of kicking them out of the order or handing them over for prosecution.

This same Province had reportedly settled another 200 claims before filing for bankruptcy in 2009. However, victims say this was only a ploy to avoid payments for the Province owns Gonzaga University, Gonzaga Preparatory School, Seattle University and a hosts of other schools and properties.
