Alcona Baker's Fair To Fight Hunger will be held on Sunday, April 17th, 2011 at the Alcona Beach Club Hall (Hall) on the 25th sideroad, Alcona Beach, Innisfil.
Admission is FREE from 10 a.m to 3 p.m. with a non-perishable food bank donation.
Aspiring cake chefs who wish to become Entrants in the Alcona Baker's Fair http://mailto:email@example.com-Decorating Contest can contact Kerry at 705-436-5811 or by e-mail at
The theme for the decorating contest is 'Fighting Hunger'. Cakes will be judged on Creativity, Skill, and Theme.
Judges are Town of Innisfil Mayor Barb Baguley, B101 DJ Robin Gerson, and Writer/Director Michelle Devlin (yes that's yours truly!) I have agreed to judge the cake decorating contest on the one condition.. that I get to eat alot of cake! I hope to be given a little judges gavel, which I can then pound on the desk, and loudly declare, "Let Them Eat Cake! and/or "Bring Me More Cake!" alternatively" and pretend I am the 'Cake GoDaffy'!
Seriously though it is going to be alot of fun, and it turns out that Sunday April 17th is photographer/cartoonist Debb's birthday so she is looking forward to getting lots of great shots of the cake fest fun!
Everyone will be able to eat cake to their heart's desire, as there is also a cake EATING contest! Also adding to the fun will be cup-cake decorating and face-painting for the kids.
A lunch counter, coffee and tea will also be available, hopefully with some of those yummy 'church-ladies sandwiches' as we call them - the little ones cut into triangles with cucumber and the crusts cut off - you know the ones! The winning 3 Cakes will win prizes, and the cakes will be raffled off!
All proceeds from the Alcona Baker's Fair To Fight Hunger will go the Innisfil Food Bank, now open at the Innisfil Community Church just over the railroad tracks on the 8th Line, Innisfil Beach Road.
Bake fair organizers Kerry and Melanie are on a mission - to bring awareness, and some much-needed financial support to the Innisfil Food Bank. Vendors and sponsors wishing to participate contact Kerry at 705-436-5811.
