Interview with Libyan Novelist Hisham Matar on Muammar Gaddafi's Brutal Crackdown in Libya. 1 of 2

PC Fletcher was on duty outside the Libyan Embassy in 1984. The embassy had to be guarded against anti-Gaddafi's demonstrators.

A shot was fired from the embassy and PC Fletcher was killed.

The accused Omar Ahmed Sodani had been arrested now by the rebels in Libya. He still denies having fired the fatal shot. He was working at that time at the Libyan Embassy in London.

He stated and I quote "I was in police custody before that. I had a quarrel with a police officer before the event, so I was detained and I was told while in the police station that a shooting took place and a police officer was shot.

NOBODY HAD BEEN CHARGED WITH HER MURDER SO FAR.
