Taylor, one of Hollywood’s Golden Age Legends dies at 79

MANILA, Philippines – GMA News TV reported that Hollywood’s legend Elizabeth Taylor, 79, has died of congestive heart failure. She was survived by four children, ten grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.

Known for her passion for jewelry, Liz Taylor, owned a 50-carat pearl formerly owned by Mary I of England as Richard Burton’s Valentine’s Day present in 1969 and he even sought a portrait of Queen Mary wearing the pearl which they later donated to the British National Portrait Gallery upon learning that it did not have an original painting of such portrait (Divasthesite.com).

She was also known for her conviction in opposing former President Richard Bush for calling Saddam Hussein to leave Iraq and for this she declined to attend the 75th Annual Academy Awards (Wiki).

Ms. Taylor was married eight times, twice to Richard Burton. The purple-eyed “Cleopatra” star was rumored for a ninth wedding in 2007 to her companion Jason Winters which she dismissed as a mere rumor (Breaking News).

Taylor won two Academy Awards for Best Actress in Butterfield * in 1960 and for Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf in 1966.
