According to a Reuters news report, the Japanese nation that follows the Buddist way of cremating its dead has been forced to bury those of its citizens that were victims of the raging tsunami that swept on 11 March. It is indeed very sad but it is necessary to bury those dead and beyond recognition in wooden boxes or blankets. This is being done urgently as there is shortage of kerosene and dry ice is not available to store them. Those beyond recognition are disposed in mass graves of 20 and the priests themselves have advised to follow the procedure of burying the dead. The police are taking DNA samples as scores have not been recognized. It is hoped they will be able to identify them but if it takes too long they plan in the meantime the best thing for them is to bury their dead and later once they are identified they will think of cremation.
