The government of Cameroon has disbursed a total sum of FCFA 141 million to the Islamic Private Education of the Northwest Region. The amount that was disbursed by government was arrears of subvention for the 1992-1993, 1993-1994 and 1994-1995 academic years. Indicators are rife at that the news of the disbursement sent great weaves of joy in the Moslem Community of the Northwest Region as well as the Islamic Education family.
It should be noted that the Northwest Region has 105 Islamic Primary Schools, 07 colleges, 01 High School and o1 Teachers Training College. Sources linked to the Islamic Education Secretariat hinted that payment has been scheduled for all the Divisions as soon as possible. Talking to this reporter, Alhadj Abdou Borno Kamfon, the Islamic Secretary for Northwest Region said he was delighted and overwhelmed with ecstasy as the subvention will boost the moral of Islamic school teachers. He noted that the money that will be paid to teachers will improve the standard of living of the teachers. According to Alhadj Abdou Borno Kamfon, the outcome will be tremendous due to the fact that it will lead to quantitative and qualitative results. Alhadj Abdou also used the opportunity to express gratitude to President Biya for instructing the disbursement of the huge amount which he said will act as a stimulant to the Islamic Education family. Accordingly, he disclosed that some 440 teachers will benefit from the payment exercise. He also called on the beneficiaries to make use of the money for the betterment of their families and to continue to have confidence in the New Deal Government. Further more, he equally called on the teachers and their families to register massively and vote responsibly in the 2011 Presidential Elections as it is certain that with Presidentin power, the rest arrears will certainly be paid.
