What Makes Haime's Think he is Entitled to a Public Apology in Urban Agriculture Issues

Oh the irony of it all. The Urban Agriculture issue and the direct impact on the Compassion Farm in Lantzville on Vancouver Island has been going on for some time. I could write a book on the stupidity of not allowing agriculture growth at any scale in an area, which is obviously rural, but today's rant isn't about that - it's about Colin Haime and his demand for a public apology.

To quickly bring everyone up to speed. Back in November of 2010 Dirk Becker and Nicole Shaw, proprietors of Compassion Farm on Fernmar Road, were informed by the regional district bylaw enforcement, acting on behalf of Mayor Haime's and the District of Lantzville, to cease and desist using their property as a business to sell produce at the local farmers market in Nanaimo.

It seems the property was not in compliance with Residential 1 zoning, which allows only for residential occupancy and home-based businesses. Apparantely farming is not however considered a home based business and farming is not allowed in what would be classified as rural area by all intensive purposes. If you want more information on this dillema you can join the discussion on facebook "Protect Urban Agriculture, Save Compassion Farm."

Now back to Mayor Haime and his demands....

It seems Mayor Colin Haime is having some difficulty with all the roles of mayor not just the good. It seems he feels he is entitled to a public apology as a result of some comments that were made on a Facebook group. He claims these statements are false.

My question is why does he think he has the right to interfere with what is being said in a group that made up of members with the same mind set and the same cause. Since when is it against the law to have an opinion and why should he think he has the right to have those opinions removed.

No laws have been broken. If those comments reflected favorably on him, you can bet he would not be demanding those comments be removed. Mayor Haime's you can't have one without the other. Perhaps you are not cut out for politics. To date - In my opinion (please don't ask for an apology as this is JUST MY OPINION) you have shown you do not have the skills to handle this entire situation. It has overwhelmed you and your solutions have been idiotic to say the least. Now remember this is just my opinion. As a journalist I plan to share my opinion and there will be no retraction or apology.

Should you one day handle this situation in the manner it should be addressed I would be happy to change my opinion and post something more flattering.
