Strong 6.4-magnitude earthquake hits Vanuatu - USGS

Vanuatu – A magnitude 6.3 earthquake rattled the region of Vanuatu Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 1:48PM at epicenter (that’s Thursday, March 17 at 10:48AM Manila Time)

Based on the US Geological Survey website the quake epicenter located at 17.339°S, 167.743°E with depth of 15.2 km (9.4 miles).

Distance details:

• 75 km (46 miles) NW (308°) from PORT-VILA, Vanuatu

• 211 km (131 miles) SSE (162°) from Santo (Luganville), Vanuatu

• 292 km (182 miles) NW (326°) from Isangel, Vanuatu

• 1887 km (1173 miles) NE (56°) from Brisbane, Australia
