why is it in most sites the drop down countries menu never features Scotland?

Oh yes you can get massive countries like Micronesia...?, Individual islands of Chile....? Nevis and St Lucia...? No harm to them but who are they. At least Scotland has a long and colourful history. We are an ancient and proud Celtic country originally know as Alba. The Romans may have referred to us as Caledonians, but that is in the Latin language. The so called "Picts" perhaps should have been referred to as Albans. The Irish or gaels came to our shores in about 3/4 centuries ad and took over the land of the Horse People (Epidii). The Romans referred to the Irish as Scotii, hence eventually Scotland. It was not until Kenneth Mac Alpine in the 9th century who unified Alba and Airer Goidell(Land of the Gael) into the fledling country of Scotland.

Like Northern Ireland and Wales we have a devolved Government. Do not refer to us as England, the British Isles are four unique, sorry three unique Celtic countries and the Anglo-Saxon England. Incidently England was once a Celtic countriest despite intellectuals and academics proclaiming the ancient britons as merely iron-age people.

in fact even "All-voices" lump us altogether as United Kingdom, yes we are, but we have been independent countries a lot longer than a United Kingdom.
