The bridge that was supposed to be toll free when it was built is about to have its toll increased yet another dollar. Motorists currently pay $5 cash or $4 with FasTrak but that may change on September 1st. The increase would go towards easing the district's 5 year, $91 million deficit.

No formal vote was taken but the Finance-Auditing Committe agreed to the change. The board will consder the issue on Friday and will likely approve it.

The district is also considering a congestion fee which would be imposed during morning and evening rush hours but the exact structuring of the fee is still under discussion. Golden Gate Bridge officials are set to meet with Federal authorities to discuss the matter later this week.
