Music, parades and costumes took a clean sweep the streets of several countries in the traditional festival. In Rio de Janeiro more than a million and half people celebrated the rhythm of the samba



In the usual protagonists of the fiesta, as the cities of Oruro, Bolivia, Barranquilla, Colombia; Encarnación, Paraguay and, especially, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, this year joined the "federal Carnival of Joy" in Argentina. Holding back will be restored after the four-day holiday, banned 35 years ago by the military dictatorship.

In Mexico, thousands of tourists enjoy the weekend at the carnival taking place in the ports of Veracruz and Mazatlan, in the Gulf of Mexico and Pacific Ocean, respectively. In the first city, the festival opens with the "burning of bad humor."



Other countries in the region such as Venezuela, Peru and Ecuador are also celebrating the festivities before the start of Lent. Comparsas with his band and special clothing take to the streets of Callao. In Ayacucho, he joined the "No Carnavalón" (big dummy) to the Plaza de Armas of Huamanga. Throughout Ecuador are parades and dances, while some sectors maintain the game with water, flour and froth.
