How are these residents doing, who are cutoff from their farms? How do they survive and make a living?

Agriculture’s one of the main sources of income for a lot of the communities along the route of the barrier so yes, the economic impact has been pretty serious. A lot of families have been thrown into complete poverty and many more (depending on whose set of figures you believe) are well on the way.
