Pakistan Writers Club Riyadh (aka:PWC) is an association of noted Pakistani Writers, poets and journalists and pen to perform sociable and scholastic events in the community. Hereof, this time Pakistan Writers Club hosted a program last week to pay a glorious tribute to
The Chief Guest of the event was Mr. Safdar Hayat – The Head of Chancery Embassy of Pakistan Riyadh whereas the Guest-of-Honor was Chaudhary Yousaf – a businessman in Riyadh. Syed Bashir Ahmed President of the Pakistan Writers Club mediated the program. Function was anchored by Chaudhary Rehmat Ali Secretary General of PWC respectively.
Chaudhary Rehmat Ali – first of all, greeted the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques - HRH Bin AbdulAziz AlSaud for his safe return to homeland after a medical recovery. He depicted the life of the King and high lightens his efforts and role in the development of Saudi Arabia. He admired His Royal Highness for taking positive and bold steps towards higher education, technical education, and welfare related steps for the masses not only in the Kingdom rather for the whole mankind around. He described him undoubtedly the leader of Muslim Community round the globe. He sincerely prayed that Allah, the most merciful and beneficent will provide preserve health for the King and enable him to continue his tremendous support and leadership for the Muslim Community.
2nd phase of the event was by the moderator of the event. He informed audience with objectives of the event to celebrate the hundredth birthday of noted Pakistani Poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz. He described that life of Faiz had won the hearts of the people of South Asia, and by his writing many of us got a comfort and courage to stand for the right of equality and humanness. Continuing the conversation he added, the year 2011 will be celebrated all through the world by lovers of the prodigious poet of twentieth century.
Qari Hafiz Saeed formally opened the program by reciting few verses from the Holy Qur’an. Muhammad Asghar Chishti delivered beautiful couplets to praise the holy prophet. Heroic poetry of Faiz was attractively recited by Hamid Rizvi, a famous personality in the field.
Aymen Zaheer – Joint Secretary of Pakistan Writers Club Riyadh and BSc Honors Student at Arab Open University delivered a speech outlining the brief overview of the biography of Faiz Ahmed Faiz. He said, Faiz was also a main rooter in prolonging Urdu Language as well as the polisher of the people of Pakistan. Completing his speech, he dedicated his rhythmical literary piece "In Remembrance of Faiz Ahmed Faiz" as well.
Professor Gohar Rafiq – a PWC member and lecturer at Pakistan International School Riyadh (PISR), conveyed an extra ordinary speech on the life story and memoirs about Faiz. Talking about his personality he added, he usually resides in a quite state and his tendency is to be helpful and benign with others. He symbolized all that is humane, decorous, courageous and exigent in Pakistani society. He was a man of axiom and his poems flash a deep background against unrighteous, though he tried to pull out these things from the society.
Arshad Shaikh - Official at Pakistan International Airlines Riyadh, offered an initiatory speech on Faiz. He added; Faiz prop up peace and concord among people of all races, transcending religious, cultural and semantic variations. He portrayed Faiz as the envoy of the soul and sensations of the people of Pakistan by delineating his famous poetry.
Kavish Abbasi – a new entry as a poet in Riyadh, demonstrated his extreme feelings about Faiz and read his expressive words of poem which Faiz had written in 1984 right away earlier than his death.
Professor Iqbal Ijaz Baig – a notable poet/writer and lecturer at Pakistan International School Riyadh (PISR), expressed his text in black and white marvelously named as "Incomplete discourse". He said, Faiz’s poetry eloquent the goals, suffering, soreness and distresses of not only the people of Pakistan but the entire world too along with their never-ending determination to make a superior and justice society. Indeed, he was the voice of wisdom and for this he struggles and looks for a peace land.
Javed Akhter Javed – a renowned poet and writer in Riyadh – expressed his views and paid a tremendous praise in his speech. He said Faiz works translated in many languages, and he is valuable in the literary world. He was the iconic romantic-revolutionary Urdu poet throughout a history of South Asia. He always remains caring, endearing, treasured and courteous. He dedicated some verses from his Poetry to recognize Fiaz and his work.
Faiz Al-Najdi – a writer and PWC’s Patron-in-Chief, portrayed that Faiz Ahmed Faiz centenary celebration hosted in almost 109 countries of the world. It is the indication and reality that he was a prominent poet and a preeminent person of South Asia. Faiz, in an intellect, replicates such an incorporated approach throughout his life. He said, his hundredth year was also observed in Bangladesh by his lovers whom he wrote obliging supportive expressions during the time period of 1971. He further added that around the globe we celebrated the day of Allama Iqbal and Mirza Ghalib but the centenary celebrations of Faiz Ahmed Faiz got a sole stand all through the bygone times.
Chaudhary Yousaf – the Guest of Honor, confessed in his speech that he was neither a writer nor a poet. He admired the contributions of the speakers dedicated to Faiz. He also read some verses of the Urdu and Punjabi poetry prior to conclude his speech.
Chief Guest of the evening, Safdar Hayat – Head of Chancery at the Embassy of Pakistan in Riyadh, appreciated and encouraged the office bearers and members of the Club to organize a fabulous event to mark the Faiz Ahmed Faiz Centenary celebrations. He admired that still Faiz inheritance is all around us and we should search his message in his glowing writing and move forward so our next generation will determine it. In conclusion of his speech, he also read some epic verses of Faiz Ahmed Faiz.
Syed Bashir Ahmed – President of the club, at the end in his presidential sermon thanked all attendees. He also appreciated and thanked the PWC members of their hard work and dedication to make this event a success story.
Chaudhary Rehmat Ali – concluded the event and thanked all one by one. A splendid dinner consisting of the local cuisines was offered to the guests.
