"It felt like an earthquake," said one bystander who resides near the explosion that took place due to natural gas located near the Pierce Transit admin building in Lakewood, WA. Anyone within a quarter mile of the area is being evacuated.
The explosion occurred shortly after 5pm Monday according to West Pierce Fire and Rescue Capt. Jenny Sharp. No injuries have been reported.
A worker said that there was a loud explosion, with two more following about five minutes later.
After the explosion, fire broke out in the area where natural gas is compressed so it can be used to power buses.
