The Oil Crisis: How Bad Must It Get Before Obama Chooses to Act?

When it comes to rising oil costs, there are only three options available to us in regards to the president’s handling of the situation:

(1) Perhaps President Obama is an absolute moron, with no concept of how to run a nation’s energy policy.

(2) The president actually wants the country to suffer through another Carter-like gasoline crisis and become like the third-world economy of his beloved Indonesia.

(3) Obama is too busy planning his next family vacation on the country’s credit card, and simply doesn’t care.

America is waiting. Which one is it, Obama? Inquiring minds want to know.

Speaking to an assembly of corporate executives about rising fuel prices, Obama said, “We actually think that we'll be able to ride out the Libya situation and it will stabilize.”

Why should you worry?

After all, Obama thinks we can ride it out—or at least he can—in the presidential limo, fueled by the American taxpayer.

Barack and Michelle Obama can ride out higher gas prices in Air Force One, the presidential jet, on their next excursion to Spain, Indonesia, Chicago, or the Hamptons.

Obama can ride through the storm on Marine One, the presidential helicopter, fueled by your tax dollars.

If that wasn’t bad enough, Obama’s Treasury Secretary, Tim Geithner, the man who doesn’t pay his own taxes, says he isn’t worried about $4 a gallon gasoline. He believes the world economy can handle a huge spike in the price of a barrel of crude.

Just when you thought it wasn’t safe to go to the pump, America, now you have the words of little Timmy Geithner to restore your confidence in the economy.

While many American citizens are struggling to find a job to pay their mortgage, they are wondering, if they actually land an employment interview, whether they’ll be able to afford the gasoline to drive there.

But why should Obama and Geithner worry? They are confident. They are still going on vacation. They still have a job, although many of us are increasingly wondering why.

While the president continues his moratorium on oil drilling, more and more American workers are forced on unemployment.

While the president refuses to let us reap the benefits of our own oil supplies, American consumers are seeing their family budgets go down the tank.

While the president stands firm against oil drilling, foreign governments harvest the oil in the Gulf of Mexico that the administration obviously doesn’t want.

While Obama stands opposed to American oil drilling and refinement, the Arab oil cartel grows richer and richer, giving them more and more money to fund more and bigger attacks on American citizens. In short, the president’s policies are swelling the coffers of terrorist states.

High oil prices are not only a threat to our economy; they are also a threat to our national security.

Where is the outrage from the media?

If the current occupant of the Oval Office was a Republican, the rising oil prices would be the opening headline on every single news broadcast. The pompous, overpaid network anchors would be conducting daily man-on-the-street interviews, with consumers at the gas pumps. We could count on them bombarding us with nightly sob stories and media hand-wringing over the suffering in middle America.

The main stream media would be claiming the president didn’t care about our plight. Liberals in Washington would be telling us he was in bed with the oil executives.

But all of them have fallen strangely silent to a president who either deliberately or foolishly refuses to act in our own best interests.

Only a cynic would be so bold as to suggest their silence was in any way influenced by the party affiliation of the man in the White House.

Despite any claims to the contrary, America is sitting on enough oil to adequately fuel our economy for over the next 100 years.

The president’s refusal to allow oil drilling is holding back our economic recovery, harming our citizens, and enriching our terrorist enemies.

Oil independence isn’t just a dream for America. It is a reality, if we would only get a president who isn’t merely content to “ride out” the current crisis, while you are idly sitting at home.

Prices are still considerably lower than they were when Bush was President, and I don't recall him doing a damned thing about it. ZERO.

And despite your paranoia, it was NOT "the opening headline of every news broadcast" when the Republican was President.

So, you are happy with the prices, I take it. Go ahead and pull the blinders off, Jacqueline.
