Mukesh Ambani's Raigad SEZ may not see light of the day

Revenue minister of Maharashtra state, has announced that farmers of Raigad are free to use their lands, as Mukesh Ambani led Reliance group failed to meet the land acquistion deadline of December 2009, set by government.

It should be noted that many farmers have been protesting land acquistion for the SEZ (Special Economic Zone), that intended to acquire 35000 acres of agriculture land, spread across 45 villages.

The procedure was started in May 2006, however was stiffly opposed by farmers & land-owners. This is another setback to Reliance group, as recently Anil Ambani. Chairman of Reliance Communications was questioned by CBI sleuths in 2G spectrum scam.
