A flash mob is a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual action for a brief period of time, then quickly disperse. In this case the group was organized by a Carleton University student Graeme Owens as part of a contest.
The event took place on ice on the Rideau Canal in Ottawa the Canadian Capital. There were several different dances to several songs.
Each participant brought one non-perishable food item that was donated to the Ottawa Mission. The event was sponored by Blackberry and Virgin Mobile Canada.
More that 2,000 people signed up for the event. More than 400 actually showed on Tuesday Feb 15th in the afternoon for the event.
