Do we need school lock down drills? One officer thinks so.

While people around the world are busy celebrating Valentine's Day, MTSU administrators ordered a total school lock down after a student was shot and wounded at the front of the Business and Aerospace Building.

The incident was first reported by a journalism student at around 11:55 AM through the nashvillescene website. According to Garett Franklyn, lock down at MTSU was declared one hour after the news of the shooting incident was reported.

Though the victim was not fatally wounded, the school lock down was done for precautionary measure. According to the report posted in usspost.com, the incident caused panic to the school administrators and the students.

In an interview with CBS, RCS Spokesman James Evans said other schools near the area of the incident were also closed temporarily including Holloway High, Campus Central School, Oakland High, Magnet, and East Daniel McKee Alternative School.

The suspect is now at the hand of the police after he was caught in the BAS building, and no other injuries have been reported.

The school went back to operation at 14:30.
