Bullying is something that has been going on for generations. It has been highlighted by the media and Hollywood entertainment, time and time again. Yet it has been largely ignored by the School systems and not taken seriously by parents.
It has taken the likes of Oprah, Dr.Phil and the major daytime TV networks covering the deaths of young teens in the past years to bring this serious issue into the light of the American people.
Still we do not have effective protocols in the schools to prevent or dicipline this problem. Nor do we have education in place to teach Parents not to encourage distructive violent behaviors.
Hazings and teasing socially insecure children does not help an already difficult situation. Often it leads to extreme depression and suicide, none of which is necessary.
We need to give the gift of confidence to our children and teenagers. We need to inspire our youth to respect each other and help those in need instead of chastising them and stomping on their troubled predictment.
What happened to those Adults who were fondly looked up to by the young for being Courageous, Intellegent, Respectful and trustworthy GOOD people?!
We as a society can no longer "Turn the other cheek" to any type of violence, whether it be to women, children, family, animals or even our environment. It is unacceptable, wrong and will never get better until WE as a people interevene in our own ambivilence.
We are WORTH it and I expect better of us all. Especially the parents, it is your duty to teach your children to be fair, just and polite. To not do so, is only giving your own children a handicap. One where the Bully's are no longer admired but looked down upon as ignorant monsters. To be condembed by their peers and shown as much mercy as they would give to their victims.
Many people believe it is the Bully's who rule this world, but in reality most of them never go to college and lack ambition. As they brutalize their way through this world they miss out on virtious opportunities. Which the rest of us are happy to take up.
Do you think Bill Gates,or any of the most successful men and woman of our time were bullys? What about the founding fathers? NO! They were different types of people, misunderstood and outcast. They traveled a harder road and in the end they came out better for it, leading the rest of us to a higher prosperity.
So lets cherish our Geeks, Gays and Freaks! Because it is they who change our world for the better. So be grateful for the diversity of life, without it we would live in a very boring place indeed.
