According to Gallup's numbers for last year, for a president in his sophomore year in office, Barack Obama had a wider divide between how the Republicans and Democrats view him than any other president dating back to Dwight D. Eisenhower during comparable points in their terms.

Dems approved of the job that the President was doing by 81% in comparison with 13% for GOPers, which is a gap of 68 points. Ronald Reagan's partisan gap in his second year was 56 points. Bill Clinton's was 54 points. Jimmy Carter had the lowest "party gap" with 29 points.
