Southern Sudan had voted tremendously for independence.

Nearly 99% of the voters were in favour of dividing Sudan.

President Omar al-Bashir again said that he would accept the end result of the vote.

Although the vote was peaceful, tension are still high in parts of the oil-rich border region.

Almost 50 people were killed in the fighting between soldiers.
