POSITION & FUNCTION

Muslim Khan is the spokesman of TTP Swat Chapter. He is also the leader of the negotiating team, talking with the provincial govt of ANP. Currently they have inked a peace deal with the Provincial government of ANP.

LINKS TO INCIDENTS

Muslim Khan was an important leader of TNSM movement in 1994. He has visited Afghanistan also in this regard, and has fought against NATO forces for some time.

Muslim Khan became a public figure in April, 2008 when he was appointed as a spokesman for Tahreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, Swat Chapter. Later on he was the leader of negotiation group from Taliban Side, who inked a peace accord with the provincial govt of N.W.F.P, on 21st May, 2008. In that peace deal Taliban and the government authorities agreed on a 14 Points agenda.

Govt authorities convinced Muslim Khan and his colleagues that there demands will soon be met. In the current insurgency since November, 2007 till date as a result of suicidal attacks, Bombardments, Slaughtering and firing from small and heavy weapons almost four hundred people have died; including more than hundred security personals. Those who are suffered and injured are in thousands.

For more than seven times military convoy has been attacked by Taliban on different occasions. In December, 2007 in an attack on military convoy at the Nawakaly area of Swat, Almost forty security personals were killed. In February, 2008 as a result of suicidal attack on a funeral ceremony of a police officer, at least 58 persons were killed including 11 policemen.

In the recent avents in the different activities of insurgency at least 13 girl's schools were set on fire by the suspected Taliban's. One leader of the PML (Q) and a people's party leader along with his wife and two children were also shot dead in June, 2008.

Being a spokesman of TTP, Swat Chapter usually he gives interviews to different national and International media persons.

He is still hopeful about the future of the peace deals between the govt and Taliban.

He is a great critic of President Pervez Musharaf and his army, which he believes is trying to damage the peace deal and destroy pakhtuns, of the area. He is also against polio drops and

Co-education.

BACKGROUND

Muslim Khan got his primary education in the Kanju village of Tehsil Kabal Distt: Swat. Later on, he could't continue his education due to his poor financial conditions and started farming in his native village. Muslim Khan has also been to Kingdom of Kuwait and U.S.A for earning his livelihood. He remained in U.S.A for almost seven years.

He has good communication power, and have good grasp on the Islamic law.

POLITICAL DISPOSITION

Muslim Khan connected to the banned militant organization, Tehreek-e-Nefaze shariate Muhammadi (T.N.S.M) in 1994. He has always been critical of the Americal roll in the region

He rose to the prominence when he was appointed spokesman of the TTP, Swat Chapter.

He is also the leader and appointee of Maulana Fazlullah who talked and inked a peace deal with government.
