Due to the series of calamities that are related to deforestation not only in the Philippines, but from other parts of the world, Philippine President Benigno Simeon Aquino III, has ordered a log ban for the whole country, reports.

The new law was announced by President Aquino, Thursday with the awareness that the wood industry will be against this new law known as Executive Order (EO) 2.

Based on the information released by the Office of the President that was released by Philippines, calamities like floods have killed 36 people, left 118,728 families homeless, and have caused the government P142.306 million for damaged properties. According to authorities the data is only for the year 2010.

The flooding in the Philippines is thought to be related to the forest denudation in the country.

Executive Order (EO) 2 includes cancellation of licenses for cutting of trees and cancelled renewal of logging permits for logging industries.

Philippine Log Ban can be considered a wise move of President Aquino, since the forest area in the country is decreasing each year.
