After the spotlight challenge to create an animal/human hybrid on the premiere episode of “Face Off”, Jessica was eliminated from the competition.
The foundation challenge for week two and the eleven remaining contestants was to create an original tattoo that had some significance for the model – the artists themselves – in two hours. Judging the challenge was world famous tattoo artist Thomas Pendleton. After the two hours Pendleton said that some of the work was good with Tate, Anthony, and Sam standing out as his favourites; while Sergio and Frank fell short. The winner of the foundation challenge was Tate.
For the spotlight challenge eleven models wearing robes walked into the workroom to stand in front of backdrops. After host McKenzie Westmore told the models to drop them, she announced that the challenge was to transform the models into works of are – nude body painting. The contestants had six hours to create a presentation fit for a magazine cover. The special guest judge for the challenge was Filippo Ioco. As the winner of the foundation challenge Tate got to choose his model and backdrop first. The other contestants were chosen at random from a drawing.
On the “Face Off” reveal stage judges Glenn, Ve, Patrick, and Filippo reviewed each of the works of art from the photos that were shot and not the live models. The broadcast aired only six of the eleven contestant’s remarks – the best and the worst. The judges told Jo that she did a great job, that her project was well thought out, and had a gorgeous paint scheme. Tate’s work was not received well and called too monotone. Sergio could have done more, didn’t challenge himself, and did not make good choices. The judges called Anthony’s work awesome and very powerful. The judges also like Tom’s work calling it cool, terrific, and a beautiful job. The judges were not a fan of Conor’s makeup work.
The winner of the body paint spotlight challenge was Anthony. His prize for winning the challenge was a signed limited edion body painting print by Filippo Ioco.
Tate, Conor, and Sergio found themselves in the bottom three. The second contestant eliminated from “Face Off” was Sergio. In his exit video Sergio said that he is leaving with things that are more valuable than the $100,000 grand prize.
Next week the 10 remaining artists will be creating aliens.
