Dr. Aafia SiddiquiAafia Siddiqui a graduate of MIT allegedly fired at US marines in Afghanistan, trying to escape her captors after several years of rape and abuse. Her three children faced a similar fate in Baghram prison run by the Americans. During the trial the defense was not able to find any evidence of firing or bullets, and the frail and beaten up Aafia she supposedly overcame a strong US Marine. Ms. Siddiqui’s please of self defense, were not accepted, she was tried and convicted in a US court of law and the US has not extradited her back to Pakistan.

Raymond Davis a US citizen fired at innocent motorcycle riders in Lahore and is now in the custody facing trial in Lahore. Raymond Davis the American told a Pakistani court on Friday that he had acted in self-defence after fleeing what he said was a robbery attempt. Ignoring US pressure Mr. Davis he has been remanded in police custody for six days for questioning– in a province whose government is run by Mr. Nawaz SharifNawaz Sharif, who is not considered very Pro-American. A third Pakistani bystander was brutally run over by a US Embassy car. The US has been rebuffed and Pakistan will try him in a court of law. Islamabad so far has not recognized Raymond Davis as a diplomat.

At least in public the PPPP government is putting forward a brave front saying that “American influence would not be allowed to affect the criminal proceedings”.

agar to Gov.is aadmi ko US ko de de gi without any charges or punishment, to samjh lena ke ab Pakistan ka ALLAH hi hafiz hai....

i think if our Govt. had been effective Aafia would have been back to her family, the case could be taken up with ICJ but no our incompitent Govt. just waited and saw the innocent girl condemned to 80 years of imprisonment. This is not justice. This person must be prosecuted in Paksitan by the Pakistani courts and fulfilling the codal formailities must be put to the noose.

Because Raymond has killed 2 innocent people. So he should be treated according to the Law of Pakistan. This incident is also a crucial test for our Governemnt especially for PML (N). If Shahbaz Shareef's Govt. do any favour of America then PML (N) will also lose its dignity which they have established after many hard struggles.

I absolutely support exchange of Davis with Dr Aafia Siddiqui. And I'll go further by saying that Davis should be charged first and then exchanged. Also, besides Dr Siddiqui we should have other Pakistani nationals who are currently languishing in Guantanamo Bay and other US prisons swapped with Davis.
