The son of a police officer was sentenced to six years in prison in China in a case that was made popular by highlighting the abuse of power by the elite of China.

Qiming Li pleaded guilty to having run over two students while driving under the influence of alcohol, one of whom died after the accident.

After colliding with the students Qiming was rebuked by a group of people who saw that his father was the former police chief.

As a result of this ruling, the phrase "my father is Li Gang" has become a kind of slogan to define the abuse of power in China.
