PESHAWAR, Jan 29: Police arrested member of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Sardar Ali after a local court did not confirm his bail before arrest (BBA) in a fake Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree case here on Saturday.
A court of additional session judge, Jehangir Khan Chota Lahor in Swabi district did not confirm the MPA BBA in a fake degree case. Sardar Ali was elected as independent candidate from PF-34, Swabi-4 in 2008 general elections by defeating the PPP-S candidate Abdul Karim Khan.
A week ago, a written application was submitted at Tehsil Chota Lahor Police Station by officials of election commission, demanding that a case should be registered against the MPA for getting and contesting election on a fake degree.
Election commission officials told Daily Times that first information report was registered against the MPA on Jan 21, under Representation of People Act 1976 and section 94, 199, 471, 200 and 420 Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). After the FIR, the MPA secured his BBA from the court, which was not confirmed by the additional session judge, and was arrested from the court. The court fixed Monday, date for next hearing of the case
