The dog was likely dead before it was frozen according to a necropsy performed by the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The owner of the home called authorities when he saw discovered the gruesome ice block on his front lawn.

The dog was a black adult female border collie cross. The ice block was apparently created from a large bin of rubber. The dog had injuries consistent with being attacked by some other animal. Some of its intestines were missing. However there were other weird features of the corpsed. The mouth was crammed full of dirt and mud.

The homeowner where the block of ice was left has no connection with the dog. No one knows why someone perpetrated such a bizarre act including the homeowner. There were no identification tags with the dogs and the owner has not been found.

I just wonder if it were not some drunken prank. Perhaps some person or persons found the dead dog and then froze it in the block of ice and deposited it on the lawn.
