January 22, 2011]----Bath salts is an innocuous household item that most of us have in our homes, most likely, our bathrooms. Used to soak aching muscles or just for a relaxing bath.
Well, there is a new drug on the market with the the same name which is reportedly a huge health hazard. These 'bath salts,' are a mixture of chemicals such as mephedrone and methylenedioxypyrovalerone, also known as MDPV.
According to the Associated Press, this new drug, sold in powder form, with inocent sounding names like, Ivory Wave,' 'Vanilla' and 'Bliss,' are causing severe hallucinations and even death. The 'bath salts' are snorted, smoked or injected by the user. One man became so high after snorting the drug, he reportedly took a knife to his face and stomach, slashing away like a deranged man.
Luckily, he survived his injuries but others are reportedly dying from this latest drug addiction. Authorities say bath salts are as dangerously portent as methamphetamine and some states are even contemplating banning the sale of the over the counter, cheap chemicals used to make the drug.
