Shelman tribes Jirga held

Shelmani tribes Jirga held dialogues on peace. A tribal jirga of Shelmani tribes was summoned by the political administration here in the Assistant Political Agent(APA) office in tehsil Landi kotal on Saturday, which was largelly attended by all prominent tribal elites and maliks of Kum and Loy Shelmans. The administration held the Jirga with the elders of Shelmani tribes to apprise them about the imminent military operation in Mohamand agency against the alleged insurgents.Assistant political agent Landi kotal Iqbal khattak told the jirga that the government and security forces have planned to wipe out militancy from the area, and he urged upon the tribal elders that they should be vigilant to stop any penetration of militants from Mohmand sides as their Shelmani tribes are situated on the border with Mohmand Agency. The tribal elders of Shelmani tribes reportedly ensured that they would not harbour any militants,although they made it clear that people of Shelmani tribes could not resist against the armed militants. They requested the administration to arrange proper security measures to ensure their possible inflow into Shelmani tribes while the suspected militants try to cross into their tribes from Mohmand Agency. Meanwhile political administration and security forces busted fourty four persons from their rooms in Landikotal bazaar on Friday night. Majority of the arrested persons were Afghans, political administration sources said.
