Pakistani teenage girl gang-raped and paraded naked

A 17-year-old Pakistani girl was abducted, gang-raped and then paraded naked on the streets of her village in Vehari district of Punjab province for spurning the advances of a landlord. According to the Express Tribune, Ijaz Ahmed (the landlord) and his friends Bilal, Shehbaz, Muazzam and Tahir broke into her house on Saturday, January 15, 2011, and raped her. The teenage girl lives with her brother Rasheed and their grandfather and an old uncle. Their parents died a few years ago.

On Saturday night Rasheed was out of the home for work while Ijaz and his four friends forcefully broke into the house and raped the girl. They also beat the old grandfather and uncle. They then dragged the girl out of the house and paraded her naked on the streets. They even proudly announced in loud that the girl was their property. No one villager protested them as Ijaz and his friends had weapons with them.

Rasheed, the girl’s brother filed an FIR in Machiwaal police station. Though the police refused to register the case at first as the main accused Ijaz Ahmed is the son of powerful feudal lord Khalil Ahmed. A doctor from the Vehari district hospital certified that the victim had been gang-raped. The hospital also treated the old grandfather and uncle along with the girl as they faced serious injuries while trying to rescue her. No one of the accused has been arrested yet. The police are still searching for the criminals. Name of the girl withheld for her security.
