Public safety at risk

The Indian Oil Corporation, one of the India's larges domestic and commercial gas supplier deliberately puts the lives of thousand of Public at risk by stocking the fully filled in LPG cylinder in Public places such as in road side of all major roads and cross section.

While a blast of a single cylinder can cause havac the company willing neglects the Public safety at risk. The reason given by the IOC official Ms. Thilagam Dy Area Manager in-charge of M/s. Arjuna Gas agency at Kolathur is that the agencies find it difficult to carry the cylinders long distances and hence stock pile around 15 to 25 cylinders is road side and street corner.

She also refused to sign the list of cylinder found in Public place found during work inspection under RTI Act.

She also refused to give the contact details of IOC's Vigilance unit at first to report about the unauthorized stocking in Public places but later under pressure gave the details based on which a complaint was lodged with the DGM Vigilance of IOC. The action taken in this regard is still a mystery.

When contacted the Chief Area Manager of IOC Chennai Area Office it was informed that they can stock upto six cylinders in Public places. But there was no word about the safety hazard caused to the Public.

Will the Petrolium Ministry make a note of it????
