Egyption court sentences Muslim to death for Coptic shooting

According to the reports, Egyption court has sentenced a man to death for killing six Coptic Christians and a Muslim policeman in January 2010.

Mohamed Ahmed Hussein is found guilty of shooting the group outside a midnight Mass for Coptic Christmas in Naga Hamady in southern Egypt.


According to the reports, an christian man had rapped a 12 year old muslim girl and the attack was thought to be revenge for the alleged rape of a 12 year old Muslim girl by a Christian man.


The verdict of court came after two weeks when a suicide bomber killed 23 people at a Coptic church in Alexandria.


According to the reports, Hussein is also known as Hamam Kamouni, he is found guilty of pre-meditated murder of the seven dead and with intimidating citizens.

court said that the verdict against 2 other men, who are also on trial, would be announced next month.

All three pleaded not quilty.

The Coptic bishop of Naga Hammady Anba Kirolos said he was happr with verdict.

Alaa Abu Zeid, defence lawyer, says the trial seem to be influenced by the Alexandria attack.
