An Egyptian court sentenced to death a Muslim by the death of six Coptic Christians and a policeman, which occurred last year.
The crime was committed against a church on the eve of the Coptic Christmas, in January 2010 in the town of Nag Hamady, in southern Egypt.
Two other men arrested in connection with the murder will be sentenced later.
The men were arrested shortly after the murder but his trial has been postponed repeatedly.
The verdict comes just two weeks after a suicide bomber killed 21 people at a Coptic church in Alexandria.
