I’ve noticed that over the years we have heard stories of how professional men and their involvement with women whether consensual or not has been on the rise. In the latest story, Lawrence Taylor plead guilty to having sex with a 16 year-old girl.
Ignorance of age isn’t a defense. How intelligent was this child for him not to know she was young? Or was he that naive that he can’t tell a child from an adult?
For his actions, the 51-year-old ex-linebacker, who led the New York Giants to Super Bowl titles in 1987 and 1991, will serve six years' probation and must register as a sex offender.
Taylor said he now knows the girl was 16 year-old and legally incapable of consent.
He said he paid her $300. I know most will agree that a 16 year-old and a 19 year-old aren’t on the same level mentally, or am I so far out of touch with the younger generation that I could be wrong.
Taylor isn’t the first athlete to be charged with some sort of sexual misconduct and as it stand won’t be the last. Why have the professional men let their guards down to also become the subject of public scrutiny?
Some married, some single but all with the same outcome….ridicule.
Just a short list of athletes to have been charged:
Mike Tyson
Tiger Woods
Bret Favre
Ben Roethlisberger
Lawrence Taylor
Kobe Bryant
Tommie Boyd, and he was charged with sexual misconduct involving a 16 year-old as well.

What is reason behind all of these type of problems, we must think on it as part of our collective issues. In my point of view, this is ideological issue. We should never challenge the action of a individuals, we must reach the source of this action.
Beyond ignoring the fact that a 16 year old having to prostitute herself is already a sad fact about society, rather than just chalking this up to another male chauvinist, you ignore the fact that a 51 year old man having sex with a 19 year-old is also an incredible age difference.
19 is still a very immature age, and not very far removed from 16. Couple this with the fact that girls today seem much older than they ever did before (take mean girls, for instance, in which the girl playing the 17 year-old queen bee was a 27 year old actress, or just go to South Beach on any weekend), and it doesn't seem as implausible as your 'article' would suggest.
