Julian Assange and WikiLeaks are now facing a multi-million lawsuit because a Florida man claims that he has suffered some serious emotional distress caused by the organization's leaks of information. The documents filed were filled with typographical errors.
According to the lawsuit, David Pitchford says that WikiLeaks' release of sensitive documents has caused him all sorts of personal damage including a worsening of his hyper-tension, depression, and stress. He claims that he now lives in "constant fear of being stricken by another heart attack and or stroke" due to the belief that the world is now "on the brink of Nucliar WAR."
Assange is currently wanted for questioning in Sweden regarding alleged sexual offences, and was arrested in London, England on 7 December 2010. He is currently on bail and under house arrest in England pending an extradition hearing. Assange has denied the allegations and claimed that they are politically motivated.
On release Assange said "I hope to continue my work and continue to protest my innocence in this matter,"and told the BBC, "This has been a very successful smear campaign and a very wrong one." Assange claimed that the extradition proceedings to Sweden were "actually an attempt to get me into a jurisdiction which will then make it easier to extradite me to the US." Swedish prosecutors have denied the case has anything to do with WikiLeaks.
