Crying in public, once seen as a sign of weakness and usually avoided in politics, is more often seen today as a useful political tool. Fake or not, male politicians are more favored when they shed tears than the female ones.
Aubrey Immelman, an expert on political psychology of Saint John University, Minnesota, said "For the female candidate, crying clearly is still in the no-fly zone. In other words, she is not allowed to cry if she wants to be voted because tears proves that she is too sensitive to lead the country" For example, if Hillary Clinton shed tears on the campaign trail and that negatively affect her image during the voting campaign. "It sounds unfair, but I think that's exactly what is happening in our society. We still are little nervous for women" Aubrey said.
Macho politicians such as Rudy Giuliani, John McCain or even the former US president Bush, who came from the military background can comfortably cry and not afraid of losing their images. George Bush often choked up in talking about the war damages or visiting victims of natural disasters. Those men are easily able to show their sensitive side in order to make them become closer to people. Like Mitt Rommey told to the reporter about his tears at the event on Dec, 17th, 2010 "I'm a normal person, I have emotions just like anyone else. I'm not ashamed of that at all."
