Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - 10 January 2011

He may not consider himself a genius, but Jeshaiah Khor is certainly one smart kid. Only 12 years old, Jeshaiah was seen at an education fair in the capital recently shopping for a degree course in either Renewable Energy or Astrophysics.

Jeshaiah, who started reading newspapers when he was just 18 months old, completed his O-Level examination last month and is currently doing his A-Levels at the UCSI A-Level Academy. Science and Maths are his favourite subjects and among his favorite TV programmes are CSI and Mythbusters.

Asked why he chose Renewable Energy or Astrophysics, Jeshaiah replied, "The Earth is getting so polluted, and petroleum, which is a big source of energy today, is running out so we have to do something about it.”

His father, H.T. Khor said: “He has just started his A-Levels and we are looking around to see what is available, and hopefully apply for scholarships.”

When he is old enough the little guy would be a Nobel Prize winner in energy or astrophysics. That surely is possible. The government of Malaysia must support this little genius of a boy. Malaysia would be proud of him in the near future.

I hope he gets the support too.

This kid is a rare kind. I think his talents need to be developed further so that he can help improve our Earth. We need more people like him. Good report, Kenneth. Rated up!

I hope they also give him time to rest play and grow up like a normal child. In the UK and other parts of the world there have been cases where young geniuses who aren't given space to develop at their own pace just burn up or rebel. Overall a really inspiring story - wish him all the best and Malaysia should be proud of him - http://www.wisephotons.net

I agree. Children should be able to grow up and enjoy their childhood.

This KID is a child wonder. However, he must not forget that it's a rare to be child. So sometimes he must play also and be a normal child.

It's difficult finding stories like this. The media is full of tragic and sensational stuff. I was overjoyed to find this one.

My sentiments exactly, Brigid. It would be such a waste if his future is affected by lack of finance.
