US Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords suffered a gunshot at the hands of an assailant on 8th January outside a market in Tucson, Arizona. Gabrielle Giffords was attending a conference, “Congress On Your Corner” that she herself had organized and invited her followers on her Twitter account.
Gabrielle Giffords was severely injured and taken to the Tucson University Medical Center after the shooting. Gabrielle Giffords was immediately taken for surgery and said to be in a critical condition. Doctor Peter Rhee, the doctor attending on the Congresswoman, said that Gabrielle Giffords was following commands after the neurosurgery and he was “very optimistic about recovery”. Apart from Gabrielle Giffords, at least a dozen other people were also injured in the shooting attack in Tucson and six were declared dead on the spot. Those injured were being treated for gunshot wounds at the Tucson University Medical Center.
The shooting came only a few days after Gabrielle Giffords took oath at the Capitol in Washington.
