This Friday afternoon, the San Francisco Bay area was rattled by a California earthquake with magnitude 4.1. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the California earthquake was at the depth of around 4.4 miles and the location of earthquake is reportedly 21 miles southeast of San Jose or 1 miles north of Morgan Hill.
It has been reported that small jolts and shakes of earthquake were felt around the northern California area, including East Bay and San Francisco.
The earthquake at San Francisco Bay area reportedly occurred at 4:10 pm; however, it was not nerve racking and was categorized as minor according to scientists.
Back in 1989, San Francisco Bay area was hit by the Loma Prieta earthquake of 6.9 magnitudes, which caused death to 63 people and over $6 billion in damages.
According to USGS earthquake reports, a few aftershocks struck in the same location, including one with a magnitude of 2.6. However, no damages and injuries due to California earthquake have been reported yet.
