The GIRLS of FPJ (Volume 3)

Born on August 20, 1939 and named as Ronald Allan Kelley Poe. His parents Fernando Poe Sr and Elizabeth Kelly of San Carlos, Pangasinan and Candaba, Pampanga respectively were both actor and actress during their times.

He is FERNANDO POE JR AND DA KING OF PHILIPPINE MOVIES. He started his acting career at the age of 16 in 1955 and went through 49 years of glorious achievements in his chosen field which only concluded with his death on December 14, 2004 at the age of 65.

Married to Susan Roces in a civil wedding in December, 1968 and later on, in a Catholic wedding ceremony with then, President & First Lady Ferdinand & Imelda Marcos as principal sponsors.

Da King, being a scion of great acting personalities then, was able to build an institution out of his own name in his art and career. Being an action star, he was able to capture and personified in himself the image of the "DEFENDER OF THE MASSES, DEFENDER OF THE OPPRESSED". He was able to translate into movies, stories about landlords and tenants relationships and other themes of life in Philippine setting.

FPJ, actor and director both movie and tv became an institution with the highest level of respect and reputation. He gave in to the call to serve the country in another fashion that time, in politics. He accepted to become the presidential standard bearer of Koalisyon ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino during the 2004 Presidential Elections with Loren Legarda as his running mate. Unfortunately, he lost the presidential bid against then, President Gloria M. Arroyo.

The whole nation was stunned and surpised about news of his "stroke" on December 10, 2004 and was brought to St. Luke Hospital. Four (4) days later, on December 14, 2004, the entire country mourned over his pre mature demise. He was finally laid to rest at the grave sides of his parents at Manila North Cemetery.

In recognition of his monumental achievements as an actor, he was named NATIONAL ARTIST for Film in May, 2006. His widow, Susan Roces declined to receive such award for her husband with the contention, it was only for "public display".

Fernando Poe Jr., a legend in Philippine Movies, continues to inspire the lives of the Filipino masses through his numerous motion pictures. INDEED, HE IS A GREAT FILIPINO AND THIS NEWS REPORT IS DEDICATED TO HIM.
