5,000 birds die from internal bleeding in Beebe Arkansas

It’s raining birds

A study of several carcasses among the 5,000 birds that suddenly and fell dead from the sky on New Year's Eve in Beebe, Arkansas has revealed that the birds died from internal bleeding. However, the theory that noise from fireworks set off the mass death has not been confirmed.

Arkansas State Veterinarian George Badley told the Wall Street Journal that thousands of red-winged black birds were frightened by fireworks and the entire group simply got confused and began crashing into solid objects, like houses.

However, if fireworks were indeed the reason up to 5,000 birds died in Arkansas, why weren't birds in other areas also killed?

Every New Year's Eve, fireworks are set off all over the world. Yet, Beebe, Arkansas is the only location reporting thousands of dead birds.

In a strange twist that is causing concern, more than 100,000 fish have also died suddenly in Ozark, Arkansas, about 100 miles from where the birds died.

The unexplained death of more than 100,000 fish in a nearby river, in addition to the 5,000 dead birds, has many people wondering if the two events are related to an unknown environmental or unnatural disaster that is defying scientific evidence and human logic.

May experts found the real cause of this mass-kill and may it be not harmful to humans and the environment. Rated up.

its a sad news..people who do this dont have heart for animals they dont do an exception..tsk..

Humans are completely ignorant to the welfare of animals, even many of us who claim otherwise. Who would have thought that periodically setting of millions of explosions for our viewing pleasure would have ill effects on sensitive wildlife.

We are a collective hoard of self centred idiots!

i'm not sure if they will ever know what killed these animals. And even if they do, they may not tell the public if it might also be a threat to humans. Big business puts all sorts of chemicals into the environment.

fish kill in Roseville that were mostly Drum fish that were mostly bottom feeders, and bird die off in Beebe. Both connected by a water way. One word "Botulism".

i am wondering if the gulf oil spill is related. toxic oil rain has been suggested in areas in florida. The dispersant got into the clouds and the chemical is very toxic.

Hi itobin53 in one of your post you stated:

“i am wondering if the gulf oil spill is related. toxic oil rain has been suggested in areas in florida. The dispersant got into the clouds and the chemical is very toxic”

I reviewed articles on the subjects of the bird die off in Beebe and the fish kill in Ozark Arkansas. Then reviewed some of the scientific literature available on Red Winged Black Birds, fish kills, bird die offs, Zebra Mussels, and Botulism: I found that the fish kill happened in Ozark Arkansas which is on the regular migratory path followed by the Red Winged Black Bird as they follow the Arkansas river Southward into Louisiana.

Some of the information reviewed indicated that in the 1920s there was a fish kill in the Arkansas River at the same location just below the Locks and Dam at Ozark AR. At that time they found that the fish had been killed by Botulism and that a major contributing factor was mussels that had attached themselves to the locks and dam.

Current Zebra Mussel infestations of the locks and dam at Ozark can be seen in photos posted on Wikipedia when you search Wikipedia for Zebra Mussels. Zebra Mussels are an invasive species that is being blamed for contributing to fish kills and bird die offs by Botulism in a growing number of locations through out the Great Lakes region.

A check of the weather for Ozark for the month of December show an unusual warm wet period that began December 28th and continued until December 31st. The fish kill began the evening of the 29th when temps were at optimum levels of environmental conditions for pathogenic Bacterial Growth of Clostridium botulinum.

It would seem that both the fish kill and the Bird die off are likely related and it also would seem that the Zebra Mussels infestation will turn out to be a contributing factor but also other contributing factors are involved and may point to a relationship between the gulf oil spill and the bird die off and fish kill.

One possibility is that rainfall patterns have been changed by the gulf spill. The weather patterns for the area show that rainfall for the month of December in Ozark, AR are normally 4.01 inches but this last December the total rain fall amount was only 2.21 inches and over 85 percent of that total 1.88 inches fell during the period of December 28th to December 30th.

in the research i have done on the bp spill i learned that evaporated corexit can indeed change the weather. interaction in the atmosphere would cause a DECREASE in rainfall amounts. Florida rainfall is DOWN since the spill. this works with the info u have found on lower rainfall in AK.

A current concern of mine is that it is going to take time for the proper authorities to complete their investigation of the problem. In the Great Lakes areas that have been affected by this same problem they then issue an alert and food advisory on fish taken from the area.

During this period of investigation the public may be consuming contaminated fish.

"Hydraulic Fracking" could be an issue in both cases if natural gas is being pumped in the area using "hydraulic Fracking". This poisons the ground water, sreams and rivers in the local area.

The chemicals used in the "Hydraulic Fracking" process are extremly toxic and it is starting to create alot of concern. Air pollution is also a factor.
