Sound of Music – Agatha Von Trapp Died at Age 97

Just this weekend the Von Trapp family was celebrated by Oprah Winfrey in the Oprah Winfrey Show. The Musical Film “The Sound of Music” which starred Julie Andrews celebrated it’s 45th anniversary, and is totally dedicated to the life and career of the Von Trapp Family.

Today the sad news reached our editor that the eldest sister Agatha Von Trapp has died at age 97. She died a peaceful death after a life of amazing experiences. Agatha Von Trapp died at a hospital in Towson Maryland.

The Von Trapp Singing family left Austria during war times and they fled to the United States where they build a career for themselves as the Trapp Family Singers or as the Von Trapp Family Choir.

The musical family inspired many by singing mainly religious repertoire. Some famous Christmas carols where written and produced by the Von Trapp Family.

Not for nothing their live story ended up being one of the most successful Musicals ever performed.
