WDSU.com. Harvey Louisiana. Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputies have arrested five teenagers who the deputies said they robbed a group of men at gunpoint, shot one of them to death and led the deputies on a high speed chase on the Westbank Expressway.
The suspects are Dwayne Mickel 14, Tyrone Leone 15, Timon Carto 15 and Allen Johnson 17, were captured Sunday evening on the 100 block of Creagan Lane in Gretna. The fifth suspect Corey Briscoe 15, was arrested a short time later depuities said.
Detectives said the teenagers admitted they were driving a stolen white SUV and were in the Hallow Tree neigborhood looking a victim to rob. The deputies said the teens approached four Hispanic males sitting under a carport of a house on Orange Blossom Lane in Harvey.
Officers said the suspects demanded cash at gunpoint, and after the victims gave them their money, they walked away, shooting at some of the victims as they left the area. Investigators said Johnson, Carto and Leone admitted shooting at the victims as they left the scene.
Officers said one of the shots killed Jose Rolando Guevara 39, who was killed when the bullet struck him in the face.
Shortly after the robbery and murder two Jefferson Parish deputies on patrol saw the vehicle matching the description of the robbers car. The police chased the stolen vehicle which was a 1998 white Ford Expedition on the Westbank Expressway and into Gretna where it crashed into an electric pole.
Four of the suspects jumped out of the car and fled from the deputies who with an assist from the Gretna police captured them on Creagan Lane.
Officers also recovered a gun and an unspeicifed amount of cash.
All five teenagers are charged with one count of first-degree murder, illegal possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest by flight.
