It’s mind blowing to note that a hotel in the United Arab Emirate (UAE), Emirates Palace hotel has erected one of the most expensive Christmas Trees in the world, worth about $11 million.
W.G. Dunlop, a reported with the Associated Press (AP) said that Christmas has come in an extravagant way in the Muslim desert emirate of Abu Dhabi as the hotel unveiled the most prestigious Christmas Tree ever.
According to him, the 13-metre (40-foot) faux evergreen is located in the gold leaf-bedecked rotunda of the hotel, and is decorated with silver and gold bows, ball-shaped ornaments and small white lights.
Dunlop observed that the General Manager of the hotel Hans Olbertz described the Christmas tree as most expensive Christmas tree ever adding that the necklaces, earrings and other jewellery draped around the tree's branches are what give it a record value.
Olbertz said this will probably be an entry into the Guinness book of world records, as the Emirates Palace Hotel plans to contact the organization about the tree which is to stay until the end of the year.
Khalifa Khouri, owner of Style Gallery, which provided the jewellery said it holds a total of 181 diamonds, pearls, emeralds, sapphires and other precious stones.
