IOWA STRAW POLL POOL FEED RX 32

The Chicago Tribune reports Matt Strawn, Chairman of the Republican Party of Iowa is partnerinig with Fox News to host a debate on August 11, 2011 and says the party will host its presidential straw poll for presidential contenders on August 13, 2011. The Tribune further states that the straw poll is an important test of the GOP strength in Iowa for contenders for the presidency. The straw poll comes months before Iowa's precinct caucuses launch the nominating season. Some opine that the straw poll is a way for the party to collect money from candidates. Additionally, some contenders in the past straw poll decided not to compete.

Thanks to everyone who left a comment: Karl, BorderExplorer, Punditty, Gino, Maria, Muhhamad and Dava. I really appreciate the comments and I chose to report on this topic not necessarily because I am Democrat or Republican, but rather, because the mid-term elections made a such a definitive statement and I am curious to find out what happens in 2012.
