Assange is granted bail must remain under "mansion arrest" in Suffolk England

WikiLeaks Julian Assange remains in a British prison after losing his chance to swap his jail cell for a 10-room country mansion as Swedish prosecutors have decided to appeal against the bail granted to him by a British court on strict conditions in a case related to charges of sexual offences.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, a target of United States ire for releasing secret cables, returned to a London jail yesterday pending an appeal over a decision to free him on 200 000 pound ($317,400) bail for alleged sex crimes.

"An appeal will be held within the next 48 hours and you will remain in custody," the judge told Assange, who nodded and said, "I understand," before being led from the dock by security guards.
