Swedish Police Leak May Clear Assange

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange

Julian Assange's Swedish lawyer says he has seen police documents that show his client is being framed. "From what I have read, it is clear that the women are lying and that they had an agenda when they went to police, which had nothing to do with a crime having taken place," said Bjorn Hurtig.

He told the London Daily Mail and other media that both women had "hidden agendas" and lied about being coerced into having sex.

The 39-year-old Wikileaks founder is in a London jail fighting extradition on claims he raped one woman and sexually molested the other. No charges have been filed and his supporters say it is a plot to get him to Sweden so he can be extradited to the U.S. to face espionage charges.

"If I am able to reveal what I know, everyone will realize this is all a charade. If I could tell the British courts, I suspect it would make extradition a moot point. But at the moment I'm bound by the rules of the Swedish legal system, which say that the information can only be used as evidence in this country. For me to do otherwise would lead to me being disbarred," he said.

Wikileaks release of hundreds of thousands of classified documents has started what is being called the first info war since the Internet became accessible to millions. Governments have tried to shut down the publication of the leaks, pressuring Internet providers and even organizations taking payments on behalf of Wikileaks to shut them off.

The reaction has been a cyber war with Assange supporters attacking commercial and government sites deemed be targeting him.

There also have been protests around the world, though not huge, in support of Assange. It will take more than Photoshop to erase his image. Indie game producers are rushing to get a Wikileaks game.

Assange's lead in Time Magazine's Man of the Year has jumped to 382,000 to 233,000 for Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Wikileaks documents show that there are lives in the balance and decisions are being made without the knowledge of citizens.

I saw a story this morning that said that an indictment of Assange was imminent by the U.S. Justice Department. It is getting to a point that there is so much misinformation out there.

I find that there is also a propaganda war going on. If the lawyers' conviction is what Assange's supposedly is, why would he worry about getting disbarred. Why not release information that will clear his client. Surely disbarring him, would be a moot point as well.

As Karl says there has been misinformation coming out probably on both sides. But Crikey the Australian newspaper definitely printed material about Ardin that was unverified. This is coming from Assange's lawyer and cannot be verified. Perhaps the aim is to try and stop Assange's extradition. If the Swedish prosecutors think that the evidence will come out from the Swedish police they may think twice about continuing with the extradition.

I think the lawyer would lose all credibility if he made this up. And it might break a Swedish law. It seems they have some pretty odd ones. He says is going to go to London to tell the judge what is going on.

I hope things will turn in Assange's favor. Very embarrassing for authorities. They are hell bent on finding charges against him. Rated up!

It will be interesting to see how it all plays out, but it has seemed fairly obvious to me all along that the sex charges are trumped up.

This whole mess should serve as a wakeup call to people. The pressure and coercion placed on PayPal, Visa and MC to cut off funding to Wikileaks when no charges have been laid show the heavy hand of the US government. By the way PayPal, Visa and MC accept money donations destined for hate groups - KKK, White supremists.

Unfortunately this is nothing new and has been going on forever.

In defense of Julian Assange

What is the truth behind the leaks?
Why does Julian Assange do what he does?
Who is responsible for the leaks and what will be the repercussions?
Is this manifestation of the Ego, self-destruction or colon cleansing of society?

I suppose history always decides this in hindsight but in the meantime let us speak in defense of Julian Assange, a knight out of Camelot, seeking the right to expose the truth thereby endangering his life for the sake of cyberspace freedom.

The publication of embassy cables, secret communication between politicians and government officials across the globe has come as a ray of hope for those who seek the truth in world affairs. Interestingly, it has impacted individual pride, exposed skewered government directives, and enlightened all to the prevalent political septicemia e.g. politicians appearing in the media saying one thing while missives to their respective governments reflecting the opposite. The mask is off. The pantomime has become a parody of puerile political shenanigans.

Julian Assange is not a criminal though he has been a wayward computer hacker in the past. This should not be held against him or used as an excuse to brand him a spy, traitor or a thief. For want of a better word he is the sorcerer of revelations – unfettered by social structures and conditioned perspectives of a modern society. Assange is the new age gladiator fighting against overwhelming odds; his sword being Wikileaks that delivers the message of truth in the macrocosm of the internet. He probably knows he is a dead man walking.

Those against this knight who cannot refute the damning evidence seek to discredit him by attempting to incarcerate this harbinger of truth on charges that have no bearing in the realm of exposures; And through his prosecution hope to enforce the laws of an alien land. Many hyper ventilating citizens of this alien land have shouted for his assassination and have suggested unspeakable retribution. This attempt at enforcing world domination is thinly disguised as concern for national security. Sadly, it emanates from a land that is often perceived as the personification of Freedom and the First Amendment.

Humanity has spoken in a devastating manner to deliver the message that a new world is dawning and it is for the people, by the people and with the people. We are witnessing a revolution in the ongoing evolution of cyberspace and individual freedom. The frontiers of Free Speech are pushing further towards a brave new world that could lead to a Village Earth i.e. humanity as one, living in peace, without the unnatural warped boundaries of countries and heady political concoctions.

But before this can happen, we are all on trial and the outcome depends on the acquittal of Julian Assange.

Please let truth prevail.
